We produce locally grown, artisanal foods.

We're crazy to do this but we have no choice. It's too compelling. See the panorama at the top of the page? That's the view from our olive orchard. Seeing the faces of visitors light up when our extra virgin olive oil envelops their palate as they stare into the infinite range of hills, their glowing eyes when they realize how the wildflower honey is connected to the olive trees, their broad grin when the stone crusher begins to turn while they sip our wines from organic grapes grown in our vineyard next to our mill - it must be love. Pure and simple.

Terra Savia offers high-quality, fresh, traditionally made products to local markets. The sale of our goods enables land conservation and supports wildlife in Northern California. For each acre of our orchard, we preserve 100 acres of land as a pristine habitat for over 1000 species of plants and animals otherwise threatened by development.

Nestled high in the hills bordering Sonoma and Mendocino Counties, our orchards were created without felling a single native tree. Our fruit grows in clean air, far from traffic and industry, with water from our own pure sources. Our irrigation is assisted by solar power, biofuels, and wind energy. Owls keep harmful rodents in the orchard in check, while free-range chickens peck the ground between our trees. Pumas on the fringes of our land occasionally prowl about and coyotes howl at dusk.

Sanel Valley Vineyards lies at the base of Duncan Peak near the town of Hopland, the southernmost grape growing region in Mendocino County. Our south east facing bench lands receive filtered early morning sunlight. This combined with natural afternoon shade create an environment for optimum flavor development. Our soils are well drained combinations of gravel and loam. We farm using organic practices to preserve the "terroir" or flavor of the site. An abundance of wildlife including several species of herons, wild turkeys, quail and California river turtles share the waters of the nearby creeks and our irrigation ponds. We consider it a privilege to share the land with the local wildlife.

So read on, sample our labor of love at a farmer's market or order online. Be prepared to leave behind mediocre imports forever.
